Hartmann Neuron VS VST Synth Now Available Free! - OSX Only Some of you may remember about 10 years ago a new kind of synthesizer rolled into town called the Hartmann Neuron, The Neuron was a crazy kind of synthesizer said to be based on Neuronal Synthesis which took models based on sampled waveforms and mashed them up in its own unique way. Now, courtesy of original Neuron co-developer Stephan Bernsee, an updated version of the Neuron VS plugin has appeared for Intel Macs, and you can download it for free. The (potentially) good news is that this is supposedly free of bugs; the bad news is that you’ll need the original Nuke hardware controller”.

  1. In 2000, Axel Hartmann and I, Stephan Bernsee, set out to designing a novel synthesizer based on artificial neural networks used for sound synthesis, the <NEURON> synthesizer. We were able to get support from a lot of people, including well known artists such as Hans Zimmer, and Hartmann Music as a company won several awards for innovation in synthesis technology.

  2. Unfortunately and despite the huge interest in our products, due to some issues with distribution and our hardware manufacturer Hartmann was driven out of business in 2004. With the company dead there was no chance for <NEURON> owners to get tech support or updates.

  3. Just recently, a Facebook group came into existence that managed to attract many knowledgeable and skilled Neuron owners who provide support and advice to each other in their spare time. To aid them in the process of keeping the Neuron alive I have dusted off the old NeuronVS sources in order to revive the NeuronVS VST plug-in, a software-only version of the Neuron synth that came with a powerful hardware controller, the <NUKE>. Thanks to the generosity of former Hartmann CEO Stefan Rapp and Neuron designer Axel Hartmann I am now able to provide an updated version of the original <NeuronVS> software here free of charge, (hopefully) free of bugs - and with no warranties of any kind.

Glide Pro, developer of Fugue and Cascadr, has released a controller app for the neglected synthesizer VST Neuron VS.

This unique resynthesis engine, launched in 2005, combined a small hardware controller with the software. The software is now free on the website, but the hardware has long been discontinued. This app seeks to replace the hardware so that new and old users can continue with the software! Sadly the VSTi will only run on Macs, and even then you need to use an AU wrapper.

Neuron VS was released in around 2005 and shipped with a hardware controller. So, anyone with a Mac and a compatible VST host is able to run the Neuron VS and write music with it free of charge. /ik-multimedia-amplitube-3-free-vst.html.

One of the exciting features of the Neuron VS is its Resynators, similar to oscillators that you generally find in every synthesiser. There are 2 Resynators in the Neuron VS. Each Resynator has a joystick that lets you adjust the 'scape' and the 'sphere' of the sound. 'Scape' refers to the generation properties of a sound (such as the excitation source in a real instrument), 'sphere' would contain all parameters referring to the properties of the resonating 'instrument' body.

In order to manipulate the Resynators, the hardware controller that shipped with Neuron VS was required. These controllers are very rare now, so this iPad app has been created as an alternative form of control. The app has been set up to transmit MIDI CC data, as specified in the Neuron VS manual, with the graphics of the app reflecting the graphics in the Neuron VS.
